Bob and Brad Q2 Mini Massage Gun Review

We recommend the Bob and Brad Q2 Mini Massage Gun as a compact, travel-sized massage gun but what makes it worthy of your consideration? Here are our thoughts.

The stress of daily life can contribute to physical symptoms as well as mental ones. Muscle aches are common with chronic stress but a handheld massage gun can help you push through the pain. With a massage gun, you can target sore spots, work through points of tension, and relieve pain without leaving the comfort of your own home.

Introducing Bob and Brad

Founded by physical therapists Bob and Brad, this company offers an assortment of health and fitness products. In addition to physical therapy and workout tools, Bob and Brad sell a generous range of home massage equipment including handheld massage guns, foot massagers, and back and neck massagers.

About the Bob and Brad Q2 Mini Massage Gun

I personally tested three of the Bob and Brad massage gun models listed above, including the Q2 Mini. Throughout the process, I evaluated each massage gun individually and tested them side-by-side to determine what makes each model unique.

The Bob and Brand Q2 Mini massage gun is small and lightweight but offers five different speeds and five attachments. It’s perfectly sized for travel and comes complete with a compact carrying case for the massage gun and all of its accessories.

Most massage guns have a similar design – a handle that connects to the massager head with one or more interchangeable massage attachments. The Bob and Brad Q2 mini features this same design, but it’s all shrunken down into a small handheld unit. In comparison to other massage guns, the Q2 Mini is incredibly easy to operate one-handed and its lightweight design makes it easier to manuever than larger massage guns.

In comparison to the Bob and Brad T2 massager, the Q2 Mini is fairly quiet but offers a similar degree of speed and power. The X6 Pro is significantly larger than the Q2 – and a little more expensive – but all three models offer the same 5 attachments and come with a carrying case.

Design and Quality

I was impressed with the overall design of Bob and Brad’s Q2 Mini massager. Though this model is small, the speed did not disappoint and I actually found it more comfortable and easier to use than many of the larger models I’ve tried.

Weighing in at less than a pound, the Q2 is perfect for single-handed operation. It’s ergonomically designed for this purpose and I was pleased to find that I could easily use it behind my back. Other massage guns I’ve tried are too heavy or bulky to do this efficiently. The size and speed of the unit was also perfect for more sensitive areas like the base of my neck and along the sides of my spine.

The Q2 mini seems well-constructed with a rubberized body and plastic ends. The massage head attachments are pretty standard and they fit securely into the unit. The Q2 runs more quietly than Bob and Brad’s larger models like the T2 and X6 Pro and I actually found that the settings didn’t feel significantly different from the larger T2 model.

Battery and Operation

The Q2 Mini comes equippped with a 2500mAh battery that delivers up to 3.5 hours of runtime. Similar to the Bob and Brad T2 massage gun, the Q2 mini has a USB charging cable. It has a charge time of 210 minutes which is fairly lengthy in comparison to other massage guns on the market. With the USB cable, however, it may be easier to charge on the go than standard plug-in models when traveling by car or plane .

Another feature that makes the Q2 Mini unique is the automatic shut off. While most massage guns will turn off automatically if the motor starts to overheat, the Q2 shuts off after 10 minutes of use. It may be inconvenient if you’re interested in longer massage sessions, but it’s a nice battery-saving feature and may help you keep track of time while using the gun.

The Q2 Mini has five different speeds which range in power from 1800 to 3000 RPM. According to the user manual, Levels 1 and 2 are ideal for recovery and pain modulation while Level 3 works well for warm-up and muscle activation. Higher levels can be used during a workout to increase myofascial mobility.

When testing the Q2 Mini, I found didn’t notice a significant difference among the five different speed settings. I imagine the device would work well for warm-up and recovery as well as general stress relief, but it may not offer the kind of performance an athlete would need.

What’s Included in the Box?

Like all Bob and Brad massagers, the Q2 Mini comes with a compact carrying case for the massage gun, the massage attachments, and the USB charging cable. The case is perfectly sized for travel – I imagine it would fit well into a backpack or other small carry-on luggage.

Included with the Q2 are the following attachments:

  1. Ball Head
  2. Fork Head
  3. Bullet Head
  4. Flat Head
  5. Air Cushion Head

These attachments are easy to install and remove. To install, simply insert the stem of the massage head into the device and press it firmly. To remove, firmly pull the massage head out.

Pros and Cons

The Bob and Brad Q2 Mini massage gun is impressive for its size and it offers an excellent alternative for situations in which a larger massage gun might not be practical. That being said, it’s somewhat limited in terms of power, so it might not be the ideal choice for everyone.

Before deciding whether the Q2 Mini is the right choice for you, consider the pros and cons.

Pros for the Q2 Mini

  • Weighs less than 1 pound – perfect for travel
  • Convenient USB charging
  • Five different speed settings up to 3000 RPM
  • Compact size and ergonomic design
  • Less awkward than larger massage guns

Cons for the Q2 Mini

  • Limited speed and power
  • Auto shut-off after may be inconvenient
  • Lengthy charge time
  • May not be strong enough for athletes

Every massage gun has its advantages and disadvantages, so one Bob and Brad model isn’t necessarily better than any other. It all depends on what you’re looking for and which model best suits your needs. If the Q2 Mini doesn’t seem like the perfect fit, consider a larger Bob and Brad model like the T2 or the X6 Pro.

Final Verdict on the Q2 Mini

Overall, the Q2 Mini is my favorite of the three Bob and Brad models I tried. The T2 and the X6 Pro seem like pretty standard massage guns and they work perfectly well. However, I didn’t think there was much to distinguish them from other models I’ve tried. I really appreciated the thoughtful, ergonomic design of the Q2 mini as well as the convenience of the USB charger.
Bob and Brad offer four exceptional choices in handheld percussion massagers at a modest price point. If you’re looking for something a little more powerful, however, and you have a slightly higher budget, we recommend checking out the VYBE Pro massage gun.
