The Mebak 3
Until recently, we had never heard of the Mebak 3. Not surprising given the shear number of new massage gun retailers coming out of the woodwork. But, like every massage gun we test, we try to reserve judgement and remain objective until we’ve spent a good week with it. And you know what? There’s really a lot to like about the Mebak 3.
From the moment we took it out of its included faux carbon fiber hardshell case, our experience with the Mebak 3 has been a pleasant one. While it may not be a lot, the Mebak 3 is actually a few ounces lighter (1.98lbs vs 2.2lbs) than most massage guns out there. In practice we noticed that we could use it for a longer period of time without the slow sinking feeling of arm fatigue setting in.
On the construction front, the Mebak 3 seems reasonably well made with no major red flags indicating that it will soon fall to pieces. We like the smooth soft-touch plastic it’s wrapped in. The handle itself is made of a super grippy silicone that will make it less likely that you will drop it. To summarize the build overall, it just feels really great to hold.
Around back is the LCD touchscreen. It not only displays the speed on the left, but also has what’s called Force Feedback LEDs on the right. Basically it displays the amount of pressure you’re applying during a massage. A nice reminder that you can press too hard. Perhaps a little gimmicky, but a neat little feature that actually works. And finally, the printed fingerprint was a nice touch to remind you that the screen is in fact controlled by the touch of your finger.
Performance
Perhaps the most important question you may have is whether the Mebak 3 has enough power to satiate your massage needs. We’re always a little hesitant with that question because it’s really subjective. What feels amazing to one, may feel utterly rubbish to another. So here it is: For the large majority, the Mebak 3 will offer just the right amount of percussive force.
We know of some big brawny individuals that really like a deep, almost punishing massage. If that’s you, look elsewhere. Something like the LifePro Pulse FX will be right up your alley.
The Mebak 3, however, is more of a Goldilocks. Not too light, not too hard. We think it has just the right amount of power to be effective.
Mebak 3 Specifications
If you’re wondering, the Mebak 3 is powered by a 2600mAh battery that powers the 5 speed brushless motor with a 12mm amplitude massage head depth. If you’re unaware, amplitude simply refers to the amount of travel of the massage head back and forth. The higher the amplitude, the deeper the massage. FYI, 12mm is very common amongst most massage guns and it’s plenty for most.
The Mebak 3 is very easy to use and doesn’t send any unnecessary vibrations back into your hand. It operates about as smooth as you would want with a minimal amount of noise. According to their literature, the max noise level is 50dB, which is about the equivalent of light rainfall.
Battery life has been nothing less than spectacular so far. After the initial charge when we first took it out of the box, we still have about 40% battery life after a week of testing. That’s impressive!
Mebak 3 vs Ekrin B37
The Ekrin B37 is one of our all-time favorite massage guns of 2020. That’s apparent from our buyer’s guide where we named it our #1 top pick. Even though the specs are similar, here’s where paying a little bit more money for a massage gun might make a difference.
On paper the specs match up fairly closely and you might assume they’re the same. Not so. The Ekrin B37 is much more powerful and you really feel it despite what the numbers say. That’s where the nearly $100 price discrepancy comes in. We don’t say that to steer you clear of the Mebak 3, but rather to clarify why you might consider spending more money.
What’s In The Box?
It’s not too often that a massage gun doesn’t come with a molded hardshell case. The Mebak 3 does in fact come with one and it’s rather attractive if you’re into faux carbon fiber. It’s not everyone’s favorite, but nice enough and serves the purpose.
Inside the case you’ll find a charger and a total of 7 massage heads. We like the variety, and you will too. You will be amazed how different the massage experience is based on the attachment.
Those 7 attachments include:
- Round ball: Soft and has just enough give for use anywhere.
- Flat: Great for large muscle groups
- Flat w/bumps: All around use
- Chisel head: Best for beck, shoulders, and low back
- Cushion: Another all around massage head with a little bit more give more comfort
- Bullet: Best for trigger points or tendons
- Fork head: Easy to use along the spine or along the Achilles
Smartly, Mebak also include a few extra massage head rubber o-rings in the box incase they wear out. The o-rings essentially keep the massage heads firmly seated in the massage gun while using it.
Out of all the them, we are really impressed by the silicone air cushioned massage head. It’s firm yet has just the right amount of give. It is particular nice on areas that tend to be a bit more sensitive. For us, that would be our chronically tight calf muscles. Using it is sweet relief.
Final Verdict
So far the Mebak 3 has been a pleasant surprise to use. With every massage gun we consider the price to performance ratio and this one nails it pretty close. This is a massage gun that we would say is worth the money. As previously mentioned, there are plenty of reviews online with folks that agree.
