We’ve all had those days when we can’t stand up straight or move properly because our back hurts or our muscles are sore (or both!). Having something that can help relax deep tissue muscles, however, can be of enormous help. Gun massagers are a fantastic tool that can often come in handy. In this review, we will discuss the Snailax massager, its benefits, as well as what you should look for when deciding which massage tool is right for you.

Are Massage Guns Good for You?

Percussion massage guns have become very popular in the last several years. They’re a valuable tool to have at home or carry with you when traveling or going to the gym. Massage guns can help ease the pain and relax sore areas on your body. However, they don’t have the same effect as a traditional massage. Percussion therapy involves using percussive force on muscle fibers in order to increase blood flow, which in turn helps reduce any inflammation or soreness that you may have.

It’s easy to use a massage gun and it’s especially convenient to have one at home. Just turn it on, adjust the percussive strength, and let it massage your muscles. One good thing about massage guns is that you don’t need to apply any added pressure to use them. Most massage guns have various intensity levels you can choose from, so make sure you start with the lowest setting and work your way up.

It can be hard to choose from the many models available on the market today, so today, we’re going to take a look at one model in particular — the Snailax massage gun

A Deep Tissue Massage for Under $100

If you’re looking for a budget-friendly massage gun (aren’t we all?), a Snailax massager might be the solution for you. There are a lot of massage guns out there, and some of them (such as the Theragun Pro) can cost upwards of $600. Truth is, not many of us are ready to splurge that much for a massage gun. Thankfully, Snailax can give you muscle relief and leave some money in your pocket, too.

All massage guns work in a very similar way and have the same basic features. They are handheld devices that provide deep tissue massage. You can control and customize the speed, pressure and intensity. Most of them come with various attachments. Simply choose the proper attachment for your needs and you will get the most out of it.

If you’re buying a massage gun for under $100, it probably will lack some of the fancier features out there (additional massage heads and/or an app that you can use with it). However, they will provide you with the relief you’re looking for. That’s what counts, right? You may even be surprised by how much value you get for your money.

What to Look For

With how easy online shopping is these days, it can be very hard not to buy something. However, if you’ve decided to get a massage gun, you need to know the reason why you’re buying it. Having a good reason will help determine which model is best for you.

Power

If you’re looking at a “budget-buy” like Snailax, we’re going to presume you’re not a professional athlete, but rather someone who wants to own a massage gun for relaxation purposes. Snailax will meet your needs here, so you don’t have to worry. The Snailax massage gun has a 24V brushless motor which generates a fair amount of power, but not as much of that “punchy” effect. Another great thing about it is that it’s pretty quiet, so you won’t wake up your family or neighbors when using it.

Speed Settings

You want a massage gun with at least three speed settings: low, medium and high. If you’re getting your first massage gun, always start with the lowest setting. Too much power will overwhelm muscles and cause more soreness than it relieves. Snailax offers five speeds (which is a solid range), so you can always adjust to your specific needs at the moment.

Attachments

Having different attachments for different body parts is an essential feature of any massage gun. The Snailax massage gun comes with four attachments, giving you a wide range of massaging options. The spherical head is perfect to use on arms, lower back, glutes and calf muscles. The U-shaped head is for use on the cervical spine and Achilles tendon, while the flathead helps with muscle groups such as hamstrings. The small round head is for the spine and large muscles such as thighs and quads.

Portability & Battery Life

One of the reasons people love and need massage guns is that they travel a lot. Whether by plane or car, sitting in a tight space for an extended period can leave you feeling very stiff. If you need to carry your massage gun with you, pay attention to its packaging, weight and battery life. We love that the Snailax Massager comes in a neat hard case and weighs only 1.7 pounds, allowing you to take it anywhere you go.

Our main issue with the Snailax massager concerns its battery life. When fully charged, the battery lasts approximately 80 minutes, which is not that substantial when compared to other massage guns (whose batteries can last up to six hours). However, we do appreciate the safety measure of its auto-off after 15 minutes of use.

When considering budget-friendly options for massage guns, there are other great options out there. One of them in particular is the VYBE Flex. It’s small and rather robust, providing you with the massage power you need and the accessibility to carry it wherever you go. It’s quiet and its battery life is rated at four hours. As for the attachments, it offers six options that enable you to target a wide range of muscles on your body. At under $150, the VYBE Flex is quite affordable. With its six different attachments, travel bag, lightweight design and charger, the value for your money is absolutely there.

Bottom Line

If you don’t travel much and don’t plan to use your Snailax massage gun outside your home, you won’t mind the short battery life. Other than that, the Snailax will give you everything you need from a massage gun. It has enough power to work on deep tissue muscles, and you can easily adjust the attachments and the speeds.
