Homedics Shiatsu Foot Massager Specifications

This Homedics Foot Massager with heat utilizes shiatsu-style kneading massage, along with air compression and a heating mode to help soothe your entire foot in multiple ways. With several different functions to select from, theHomedics foot massager provides a good degree of customizable comfort.

Homedics Foot Massage Modes

With the press of a few buttons, you can easily adjust the Homedics Shiatsu device to your comfort. After plugging into a 120 volt outlet and powering on, one button activates the air compression massage setting. Repeated presses cycle through low, medium or high pressure compressions. Air pressure surrounds your feet inside the removable and machine-washable interior lining (Air 2.0 only). The compressions gradually squeeze and then release your feet, promoting increased blood flow and circulation.

Another benefit of the Homedics Shiatsu Air Pro or Air 2.0 is the shiatsu kneading massage. Drawing from Chinese and Japanese massage techniques, shiatsu means “finger pressure,” from the Japanese word “Shi,” for finger, and “Atsu,” meaning pressure, or touch. Homedics replicates shiatsu’s signature motion of circular kneading with deep-reaching massage nodes. A second button on the Homedics display allows you to select low, medium or high kneading intensity.

The third massage mode offered by this Homedics device is a soothing heated massage mode. While it may take a few minutes to gradually heat up, the kneading massage nodes provide a warm massage that can help relax and increase flexibility in tight muscles, tendons  and other tissues. The manufacturer recommends always wearing socks when using the massager as some may find the heat uncomfortable on bare skin. Also note that the heat function automatically shuts off after 15 minutes of use for safety, but can be manually restarted.

The last and centrally-located button alternates or combines the compression and Shiatsu kneading functions. You can select to enjoy only one massage mode at a time, or combine them, which is when this foot massager is at its very best.

Homedics Shiatsu Air Pro First Impressions

At first glance, you will notice the simple, modular design of both the Homedics Air Pro and the Air 2.0 foot massagers. Homedics excels at creating clean, simple and user-friendly devices that anyone can operate and enjoy. Some might describe the Air Pro as looking a little like a motorcycle helmet, with its round shape. The Air 2.0 changed the rounded design for a more rectangular box shape that looks a little more like your average shiatsu foot massager. We appreciate that they maintained their clean hard-shell look in both models. The removable and washable liners found in the Homedics Air 2.0 are a solid upgrade, and are worth the increased price by themselves.

These devices include owner’s manuals, but they really couldn’t be simpler to use. Just plug in the included adapter into your 120-volt household outlet, connect it to the Homedics massager, and you’re good to go. The buttons are clearly labeled and the one-touch design to cycle through modes and intensities is simple to use.

If you’re looking for a firm massage, these would be good models for you to try. Even on its lowest setting, these machines are capable of a stimulating and effective massage. Those who might struggle with tender feet and would prefer a gentler touch could consider choosing one of our best foot massagers of 2022.

Some reviewers with larger or wide feet may have a difficult time using the machine, even though the manufacturer reports it accommodates up to a US men’s size 14. Other potential issues could be less targeted massage onto the arches and heels when compared to massages from professional masseuses or self-hand massages.

Pros and Cons of Homedics Vibration Foot Massager

  • Lack of adjustable positioning or calf and ankle massaging.

  • No vibration.

Homedics Shiatsu Air Pro and Air 2.0 vs. Cloud Massage Foot Massager

Cloud Massage foot massager

Comparing these two products is not exactly a fair comparison. The Homedics devices are simple, and do a few things quite well. They provide a soothing, simple massage for the feet. However, there are many reasons that the Cloud Massage remains our #1-recommended foot massager.

While not as budget-friendly as the Homedics models, the Cloud Massage foot massager provides greater versatility and features. With its adjustable base, the Cloud Massage can provide relief to the entire base of your feet, including the heels and arches. More than that, this massager can also massage your ankles and calves, making it a favorite for athletes and muscle recovery. If your primary source of tension is in your calves and not your feet however we’d recommend checking out a dedicated calve massager instead.

If you’re still not sold on either of these, don’t worry, we’ve rounded up even more of the best foot massagers available to help you make the best purchase at the best price.

Homedics Heated Foot Massager Bottom Line

The Homedics Air Pro and Air 2.0 shiatsu foot massagers are simple and dependable products. They feature simple controls, and are good options for regular use. While they may not feature some of our favorite foot massager features, they remain a good mid-level choice. However, for the price and value, we believe there are better foot massager options available. Compare the Homedics to some of our top-recommended foot massagers and massage guns, and (finally) get the relief you deserve.
